In the 90s, there was a part of Spain, on the border with Portugal a disordered use of water, causing water saturation in the Valley of Alentejo, a major producer of grapes and wine.
A group of producers in the affected region of Portugal sought a solution at one of the American universities in the state of California, which in turn appointed experts in Israel.
The C&S technical team had worked with the Israelis on the irrigated fruit-growing project in the São Francisco River Valley, in the municipality of Neopolis, Sergipe. The group of Brazilian and Israeli technicians, after study, elaborated a water recovery project for the Alentejo Valley that was presented to the Portuguese businessmen, who started their implementation.
